Oh boy. I do not know what to rate this book! While I’m reading I’m usually giving the book a rating as I progress through the story. Then I typically go with whatever rating I gave it last. But with this book... it was a solid 4 Stars through most of the book. It did feel a little long to me, some parts could have been condensed and it took my days to read because it was tedious at times. But, overall I found all of the ideas very interesting. I was excited to find out where it was going to go next. Buuuuuut... that ending. Seemed kinda hokey. I know there is a sequel but that ending honestly doesn’t have me excited for the sequel. So now I’m left with a big question... do I carry on just to see if book 2 resolves my feelings towards book 1? I hate to read a book just to justify another book. I’ve also grown weary of the world and the thought of another 400+ page book... sigh. I think this would have been great as a stand alone book even if he had to add another 100 pages just to resolve it all. I’m going to go with a 4 Star because most of the book deserves it. Plus this was the authors first book? That’s impressive.

I don't know what to make of this book. It started out as being incredibly clever but then it went on a "Mutant Robot Craze" and got boring. Maybe because of it I didn't understand the ending. I'll think about it and write a proper review afterwards.

UPDATE: The book is not a book, is the first chapter of a whole series. Had I known that then wouldn't had read it.

So good I'm rereading it for fun. It's the Die Hard of books; one of a kind that everybody else will try to imitate but they will not succeed. Daniel Suarez created a new genre.

Very gripping thriller. I was reminded of Google glass, Driverless cars and Oculus when reading this - scary to see how existing technology can be (mis)used to control entire corporations and advancement in AI can become a self-sustaining organism.

Decent book if you're into technology. Didn't blow me away, but I've read worse books.

A solid techno-thriller that gets the technology and terminology right.

Loved this book. I’ve been in non-fiction for a few months and forgot about how much fun good novels are. It’s a page-turner, and surprisingly technically-feasible. I loved that aspect — of course it’s also terrifying, staring down the barrel of how insecure our digital world really is.

Read it. No technical knowledge required. 4.5 stars.
