These stories are raw and beautiful at the same time. They hover between imagination and real life, tugging at the things that keep reality weird enough to sometimes feel fake.
Many of the stories come close to slipping into shock for shock's sake, yet right before they get that far, Mueller counters with beauty unparalleled by most others. It's a game of disgust and beauty, a balance between the grotesque and simple grace that is life.
