As one of my favourite characters, Padmé’s story is always fun to hear. I loved how it filled in the gaps of her rise to power and added some interesting hints to other events of the world and film. I also love Anakin, but it was refreshing to have him be such a small part in Padmes story, especially with how they end up *cries*

Was this perfect? No. Did I enjoy it? Yes.

I was giddy before reading this - we learn more of the Planet Naboo and how their govern system works.

I loved how the queen's shadows were found, and the bonds that they had built before everything went to hell.

There were numerous parts - for me - lacking enough or no information. I get that this is in the timeline of Episode 1 (and most has seen the movie), but what about Padmè's inner thoughts when she met Anikin Skywalker?

Why skip those parts? And how about the inner thoughts when they have overthrown the Chancellor?

I will see how well it goes with the second book: Queen's shadow.

I think this was a much richer text than the first/second book (Queen's Shadow).

  • Had a lot to say about how girls are underestimated
  • Continued focus on relationship building
  • The mirrored prologue/epilogue made me cryyyyyy

Despite my rating, I enjoyed this book. It was a little slow and much of it wasn't that interesting. But the second half certainly picked up as the timeline started to merge with the events of 'The Phantom Menace'

Worth a read if you like the prequels.

Loved this one, not as much as The Queens Shadow but still great. It gives you a more in-depth look into what the Handmaidens were doing during episode one. Plus I liked how we finally found out they were all chosen. Good book, need more on Sabe still.
