I loved the quirky main character AND!THE!DOG! (you have to read the book). I let fall much salty water (from the book), but is such a strange and oddly wonderful book by my standards. I did give it 5 stars for its creativity, storytelling, characters and heart.

Quirky and sweet, and made me sob. Very different, and at times, too weird for me—but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I'm having a hard time rating this book. It's clever, amusing, and original, but for whatever reason I the enjoyment I had during the first part of the book dwindled as the story went along. I thought it was too long and it was a bit over dramatic for me. With that said, I am in no way saying that the main character wasn't believable, but I think the whole octopus thing went too far.

Very rarely can one book make you cry from laughing so hard then sob uncontrollably from feeling all the feels. Well done, Mr. Rowley. Well done.

I don’t really know how to write this. The beginning was intriguing, but the middle dragged horribly; but the earned it 3 stars instead of 2. I love alliteration and allegory and allusion as much as the next bibliophile, but the level to which the author went on the whole octopus thing was a bit much for me.

Beautiful. Perfect. An ode to everything beautiful and tenacious that dogs always embody.

A 3* book until the end when I sobbed uncontrollably. I wasn’t really invested in the story as a whole but as a dog owner, empathised deeply with the situation.
