This is such a cute book. It teaches us that no matter how much we wish for everything we want, it will not make us as happy like if we were just to enjoy what we have. Such a cute book with a great premise and great art! A job well done!

Good illustrations. Its about a rat who learns that having more things does not necessarily lead to happiness. Be content with what we have.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the eARC.

I read this as an e-ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks, NetGalley!

This was a fun picture book with a get lesson material happiness. The magical realism incorporated in each of Mr. Pack Rat's wishes came across very well both in the text and the illustrations. I enjoyed the overall moral of the story that wanting material things will not always make you happy. Sometimes being in your favorite place and the memories you take away from it is really all you need.

Absolutely beautiful, cozy illustrations and a cute story -- though a bit preachy by book's end. Good for call and response use in story times with the refrain ("Mr. Pack Rat/Mr. Pack Rat/Mr. Pack Rat really wants that!").

Mr. Pack Rat goes on a spree of destruction and theft only to find out he apparently hates everything. Until he learns that less is more.

I adore this book. Not only are the illustrations whimsical and enticing, the story itself is pure magic. The occasional rhymes were fun to read and will make this book an excellent pick for read-alouds and story time. The written text was well developed, but not too long; I felt warm and fuzzy as I read along and discovered alongside Mr. Pack Rat what makes him happy. I can't wait to own a copy one day!

When Mr. Pack Rat wants to collect all the wonderful things he finds, he turns to his trusty (and magic) magnet. However, as his room overflows with more and more stuff, he’s forced to consider if his hoarding habit really makes him happy.

This is a charming picture book that offers great commentary on finding out what truly makes you happy. Marcus Ewert’s text plays with repetition that ultimately pushes Mr. Pack Rat into a clever dilemma. This also allows for kids’ interactions during subsequent readings, particularly with all the cute magnet noises!

Kayla Stark’s illustrations are a major highlight. Her sense of color pops on the page as she plays with the earthiness of Mr. Pack Rat’s home and the vibrant world around him.

Note: I received a free ARC of this book through NetGalley.

Mr. Pack Rat is such a cute book for kids! The illustrations are adorable, the writing was perfect for the age group so my son could read along. As a parent I always love books that teach children a moral ore behavioral lesson through the story. This wonderful book accomplishes a very important message about greed which which is a more prevalent issue among young children today.
