I listened to the audiobook I wanted to listen to something while I cleaned the house (and to get ahead of possible required reading for my grade 12 English class : ). I had initially read the first 20 pages or so in school before covid-19 when I was bored and never got the chance to finish it. I, however, was pleasantly surprised, I went into this novel not expecting a lot because of how short it was. The first chapter made it seem like it was going to be an almost adventure type story with the two main characters Lenny and George... but it was a lot more than that. This story has heart, suspense and colourful storytelling. I recommend picking this up or listening to it regardless if it is supposed to be required reading. 'Of Mice and Men' is now one of my favourite classics.

This book is a classic for a reason. I love the writing and the way the story is told. It is extremely sad, but I think an essential read. I read it in High School and it has always stuck with me.
