I listened to this book via audio version, it's a short 5 hour read. I really enjoyed the narrator, Matthew Berry, he was to the point, easy to listen to, but I had a hard time with some of his voice variations. Other than that, he did a wonderful job, and the production seemed very well done.

The story itself wasn't too far off from many other books in the genre - it reminded me a lot of a Patricia Briggs, JR Ward, or the Dresden Files. I liked how the supernatural was paired with the modern way of life. We have Sam Logan, who's a PI, that gets hired for a job in this small town. Come to find out, it's been over run by vampires. The story took a few twists and turns to solve the mystery, but kept me engaged throughout. It was very entertaining.

What would you do if your son got turned until a vampire? Hire the best detectives their is, Sam Logan. Sam prided himself in bringing to justice everything that goes bump in the night. But when the cases quit coming in Sam agency, Fringe Investigations, is close to being shut down due to no revenue. However one faithful night the phone rings...

I really fell in love with this book. It was a good twist on the vampire genre and I was all here for it. It not only put a new spin on the genre but on the stigma of vampires as well which I enjoyed. This book keeps you on your toes with a mix of romance, action, and intrigue. I only really have one complaint about this book was that I wanted so much more of the story. I wish it was longer but I really hope the authors decide to make more books in this series. I need more adventures of Sam the vampire investigator and his lovable crew! I also enjoyed the narration in this book. It was easy to discern between the characters and the narrator gave each of the characters their own personality which I really enjoyed!

A paranormal story with a very noir sense to it, and with a PI who is quite familiar with things that go bump on the night, this is a very engaging, truly interesting story.

The characters are greatly done, their motivations easy to understand and sympathize with, and the storyline, fantastic. The numerous action scenes keep the story moving ahead.

I really enjoyed it :)

Matthew Berry did a very good job with the narration.
