Too long, slow pacing, and too on the nose of a Les Mis retelling for my taste

At least part of the issue here was this being a terrible audio production but I also didn't connect with the story or characters enough to want to follow up by picking up a print edition.

I really wanted to like it - so many things going for it. In the end I only got a third of the way through. An editor not afraid of confrontation could have done wonders with this book.

As a huge, huge Les Misérables fan, this book was such a relief compared to the other retellings I've read. Sky Without Stars takes the plot of Les Mis and hurls it into space

Okay, this book was such a pleasant surprise, I really enjoyed it!

I randomly picked this book up via the audiobook (which I HIGHLY recommend, there is a narrator for each perspective of the book which is amazing) and omg it was so good! The plot was pretty fast paced for the most part and the characters were interesting. I will definitely be picking up the sequel to this and continuing on, that ending was SUCH A CLIFFHANGER AHHHH.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! It was a fun, fast paced sci-fi story that was just great. In case you were wondering, I have never read the original Les Mis so I have no clue how accurate it is or what parts of the story were in relation to the original story. It was just a great sci-fi story that I would definitely recommend if you want to check it out!
