I enjoyed the first crisis in this one. I was on board all through the second with my suspicions about later discoveries, engaged with the characters, intrigued with the developments; but there’s a dramaticism that’s quite boring by the end, and fell out a bit too easily.

I like this book the first time I read it as a teenager, but as a 40-something, uh, man this is some sexist shit. And ableist!
I think in 2024 or whenever you read this review if you read it, just find a different series. Or watch the tv show.
