This is a masterpiece. It's a mystery, it's a horror story, it's a dark fairytale, it's so many things at once and utterly beautiful. Even after finishing, you will find yourself still in the woods of Poland...

For the animal lover, it will devastate and speak to your soul.

a cathartic read for astrology girlies who hate hunters (me)
don't get (i mean i do get it but it's very telling) why so many people found the narrator insufferable, sure  she was annoying at times, but i feel like the author is also making a point with her: if you're infuriated by her you're kind of part of the problem.

Whimsical, cold and slimy. It had a really particular taste to it that I liked. I feel like if it could walk it would creak along like a weird species of spider. Reflects on animal rights, arbitrary hierarchies imposed by man on nature and explores the psyche of an unhinged old woman. It was challenging to read with all the forays into astrology and I wasn’t entirely sure what was going on all of the time or what the underlying meaning of a lot of the more complex messages were but it was well written and suited that no-plot-(but-also-actually-a-gripping-plot-but-also)-just-vibes genre.
