I know memoirs are usually not written about happy lives but my gosh, this one was a tough listen. I actually kinda zoned out at some points and wasn’t actively listening anymore because the content was pretty triggering and down right devastating.

However, it was extremely well written and Croft depicts the grief of moments and “what could have been” in a way that is almost more sad than if the person in question (no spoilers, dw) had actually died.

Coming from a 4 piece core family myself, with a sister, I related to a lot of the element ps of family life which Croft mentions and I think that was what made some parts so hard hitting.

I found the story of Amy particularly interesting, as I feel like people in her position, don’t usually get their stories heard. I found her work life pretty inspiring and she was an incredibly woman from what Croft wrote about her.

Overall I enjoyed about half of it, and the other half was just too damn heartbreaking to enjoy tbh.
