My initial and quick thoughts:

- Liked it, but didn't love it
- Enjoyed the first half more than the second
- Enjoyed the writing style and the way it changed as Amy and Zoe got older
- Not sure how I feel about fictionalised memoir. I know it is a big thing but I feel you should write the memoir and not the novel. But I know this is a thing that has happened for ever. I believe the French even have a phrase for it: roman-à-clef.
- Three stars might be harsh, but I'm tired and unwell. I might up it to four when I'm feeling better, which is incredibly arbitrary but what are these ratings except arbitrary personal opinion.

I may be a little biased because I am friends with the author and her family, but I think I would have loved the book regardless. It has such a unique format and voice with a story particular to one person but that anyone can relate to in one way or another. It's a poetic, emotional but optimistic, beautiful, portrait of two people and the relationship between them.
