This is my favorite quick read, comfort book. Neil Gaiman does an excellent job of selecting what information to tell the reader about this world that leaves a lot up to imagination and makes it all the more scary.

The writing is great and the story is interesting but it just wasn't that interesting to me. I don't really understand why this book is so beloved, but horror books aren't really my thing anyways. I think it becomes a bit more interesting when read as allegorical of a child's POV living with an abusive mother, but I'm still unsure if that was the intent of the book. All in all, it was a decent read. Definitely creepy, but I have trouble wrapping my head around it all.
I borrowed this book from my library, in audiobook form, and the audiobook format definitely made it more interesting. The narration was really engaging. It's a book I feel is worth reading at least once, but I don't know that I'll read it again.

There are some spelling mistakes, some missing words, but all in all the translation doesn't lose the original's magic and whimsy. The drawings are beautiful, but not always correct, Coraline is wearing the wrong outfit sometimes, characters don't look like they are described on the pages that go with the picture etc

An eerie, lively, vast yet mysterious world and read. It grabbed my intention and only turned my fascination to sheer confusion toward the very last chapter so I might need a re-read of those last 5 or so pages. I wished I had read it as a child or teenager but I'am glad that the little adult that now am got to experience this kind of magic !
