Contrived forced to marry situation, but loved that it was a marriage based on friendship which developed into love. Every lasting relationship is based on friendship and I loved how this story developed.

Georgiana is ruined (in the eyes of society) by a man who needs her dowry. Rather than choose between spinsterhood or life as the black guards wide, she choose a third alternative presented to her. Marry the boy next door. Marry the boy who has known her since childhood, who has cared for her. No this isn't a secret, burning torch for each other kind of thing. He's just, well, honorable, and doesn't think it's fair that she should suffer a lifetime of consequences because some man decided to try to take what wasn't freely given. It just isn't fair. Oh, he resists being honorable too for a quick second because no one likes to have to marry for honor or maybe even pity. But it's Georgiana, his neighbor. And well, it could be worse. He likes her and she likes him. It's a good start.

This, I think is my favorite Julia Quinn novel I've read.

Enjoyable if not particularly interesting

Love Julia Quinn, but this is not one of her stronger offerings. The couple in question seem to only fall madly in love cause they hadn’t thought of it before, and there’s no real conflict, even with the heroine’s kidnapper. I did enjoy the feminist twist on the genre, but it doesn’t really get them anywhere, and while that might be accurate, it was still disappointing.

Very sweet. This felt a little half hearted by Quinn, like she needed to be done with this series and didn’t have as much left to give it. The characters were engaging and their relationship development was satisfying, but the plot lacked a lot. I did like that this one did not end with babies - I’m not against them but it was nice to have some variety.

This was such a fun, quick read! The humor and banter was so lovely, and I love how feminist the main character was without it being too overwhelming! The way he supported her decision making and backed her up when the people around them tried to make her feel less for being a women, has made him my favorite Rokesby brother :) And even better, reading about two virgins was so refreshing and fun. They were so awkward it made me giggle and kick my feet.
