So...sometimes worthy causes and helping-others-helped-me stories don't make for the most interesting books. It's just, it goes something like this:
Does the book sound interesting? Check.
Is the author doing something interesting? Check.
Is the writing okay? Check.
Is the book heavy on the feel-good? Check.
Does it read like CNN did a special and then a publisher offered a book deal and a ghostwriter? Check.
It's not bad writing; it's not a bad book; it's certainly not a bad cause. I just think I'd rather read something that takes a more research-oriented approach and focuses less on the 'feels'.
