This is a heartbreaking story with a happy ending. I’m beyond amazed that Zeena is able to thrive and flourish after she horrors she had to endure. A true survivor.

Cathy Glass has been a foster carer for more than twenty years, and through her books she shares these experiences, and the experiences of the children in her care.
This is the story of Zeena, a 14-year-old girl who has asked to be put into care, specifically with a non-Asian family. She is polite and well-behaved, but Cathy knows from the start that something doesn't quite add up.
The truth, to be honest, is given away by the title of the book. However, just because the title gives away that Zeena is a child bride, that's only scratching the surface of what Zeena has had to endure. If Damaged was the most disturbing story that Cathy had to tell, then this one is definitely up there.
In Cathy's last book, I felt that she focused too much on her family and her divorce rather than the child the book was supposed to focus on. In this book, Cathy is back to doing what she does best; that is, focusing on the child and giving us an insight into the world of foster caring.
This book also raises awareness about child marriage and, considering how Cathy reacted when the truth about Zeena came out, this seems like something that is sorely needed.
It's not the most well-written book in the world, but, to be frank, you do not go into these books expecting a literary masterpiece. The language is clear and does its job, by telling the story it needs to tell.
If you're a fan of Cathy Glass, you won't be disappointed by this book.

Hard to get into at first but shocking to think that what is girl want thought still happens here in the UK. I love the Audio book over the physical book for this one
