Fun read. The denouement is worth the buildup.

Fun read. Greg's metafictional comments elevate it.

The is one of my favorites of the series. This is "spooky" stories but really, they mostly end positive. They are spooky from the perspective of a little, naive, awesome, friendly and kind kid. The stories make a chuckle inside. Its weird cause I have never been able to get my kids interested in Kinney's stories but I love them.

Rowley writes an adventure story with an awesome friendly hero. His friend, Greg Heffley of [b:Diary of a Wimpy Kid|389627|Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, #1)|Jeff Kinney|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1388183826l/389627._SX50_.jpg|2617009], critiques Rowley's story. Again, this story is cute and funny. Rowley is naive is easily influenced while at the same time, just an awesome, friendly guy.

This was a book I read just to help me reach my Goodreads yearly goal as it was a very quick read. It is funny but I am sure it would appeal to a younger audience that might appreciate the silly humor that is the mainstay of this collection of stories. I wonder if I would have liked it better had I read it with a younger reader to see if their interest would rub off on me?

This is a funny book that I read aloud to my granddaughter. She loved it! I would say any young reader would love it too as it has something for everyone. The humor is simple for most of the story but there are points where it is a bit more sophisticated. The story is a grand adventure that alternates between the actual story and sections where the author talks to Rowley about how he could improve his story in authors notes. This choice does get a bit stale after awhile as he seemed to just make more comments to make the story longer but I will say that it was an innovative writing choice. I'd recommend this book to any reader 8 years and older.

i couldn’t finish this.
i love diary of a wimpy kid. i loved the first rowley book. but, this..... i couldn’t force myself to trudge through it anymore. just reads differently compared to the rest of the series. i don’t like the back and forth between rowley’s story and his conversations with greg. the story is boring, maybe because it’s through rowley, but it seems to be for readers younger than the typical audience (perhaps i’m just used to greg’s voice). greg’s narcissistic tendencies made me laugh as usual and rowley is always so sweet. i applaud jeff kinney for writing in a style he normally doesn’t, but i just hated this book.
