This book could have been cut in half. The story was repetitive and overall boring. The characters are all flawed and I feel sorry for Joyce out of all the characters. I can’t wait to see it all come tumbling down in book three!

In book 2 of The Neighbors series, this is not a continuation, but a parallel story. This story follows Milton and Yvonne Hamilton, who are neightbors to Odell and Joyce Watson, who are introduced and the main characters of One House Over. This book ended abruptly, like the first book, so hopefully there's another book that will complete both stories.

In this second installment of the Neighbors Series from Mary Monore we get to learn more backstory on the bootlegger neighbors Yvonne and Milton.
After reading the first novel then this one and seeing the interactions from the other couples post of view is mind blowing.
It also shows how Yvonne does the same thing as Joyce with getting with the first man who wanted you because you were desperate. Yvonne and Joyce are similar in ways and completely different in others.
Milton and Yvonne are criminals and unfortunately that’s probably all they will ever be. Even their thought process when they are trying to better themselves is just full of things that will land you in a jail cell.

The first book was good...this one was soooooo drawn out. I really hope the 3rd book is better.

This one was kind of slow moving. It was interesting reading from Milton and Yvonne’s points of view and it left me hanging just enough to have to read part 3 of the series. I wonder how they’ll get out of this mess. And will Joyce find out about Odell and Betty Jean?

I had some problems with this book as it was the second installment in a series and I didn't read the first one.
I liked the characters, the well researched historical background, and the setting.
The book is sometimes slow and it seems to drag.
