*** read for Native American class 21’***
I have no idea what this book said. I know it’s about tayo who has severe ptsd but my understanding stops there. Hate the fact I had to read it for class bc I don’t think I can judge it fairly. Thus my no rating.

This was the second book that I read for my upcoming course, Fiction of the later 20th Century. It was okay. A little dull, but a decent story. I guess it's not something that I'd pick up on my own, and it didn't win me over.

Very slow, but felt like an important text, especially for all the Indigenous boys who came (and will come) back broken from fighting a US war. The jump from reality to 'magical realism'--not the term I actually like but I can't come up with anything better for a three sentence review--felt abrupt. Otherwise a sad but hopeful title that I'd recommend for anyone interested in mid-20th century history, PTSD, survivance, and what really comes after the war.Graphic: Violence

This book is so hard to read. I read this for an out-of-class, extra-credit assignment, so there was no class discussion, which I feel I would have greatly greatly benefited from. This is one of the books that needs careful attention paid to the details to understand.
