Should I become a forensic pathologist??? This book made me think maybe I could do it if I had weekly therapy throughout my career.

Interesting book that takes you through many real murders, crime scenes and autopsies. Was a little slow at times, but overall a good book.

Going into this book, you have to expect the nature of some of the cases to be quite graphic. However I found some cases which detailed the brutal nature of attacks to be quite triggering. As somebody who has been victim of sexual violence and is a suicide attempt survivor, I found I had to skip past quite a large chunk of the book as I was incredibly triggered. Having said that the book was very well written and was a brilliant insight into what pathologists actually do and how vital forensic pathologists are to police investigations. A brilliant look into the toll being a pathologist can take on personal life and mental health. I am deducting one star for there being no trigger warning for certain cases, however overall I did enjoy the book and if i wasn’t triggered due to personal reasons I think I would have given it 5 stars.

At first I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m not usually one for reading ‘real life’. But this was recommended to me by many people so eventually I got round to reading it.

It starts off with events that happened before I was born, naturally I had to ask my own questions and do some research. But it gripped me fully. It had me in tears several times at the things that people did to others, why they did them and some things I, personally could relate to.

It was a good read, heavy going at times but it was worth it. I didn’t realise how much being a Pathologist entails but he did well!
