This book is very, very silly. That’s the intent - it’s a totally wacky Christopher Moore tale of an ex-B-actress off her meds, a cop stoned out of his mind, a glowing angel who is indeed profoundly stupid, Roberto the talking fruit bat, and crazed zombies who want to go to IKEA. See? Very silly, very Christopher Moore.

Amongst all that are some hilarious lines - my favorite about valiant Pastafarians - and a story about the Christmas from hell. Luckily, though, wishes do sometimes come true. And the people of Pine Cove all pretty much lived happily ever after.

Christopher Moore CANNOT write female characters. "Lamb" is his only readable book. Given the religious undertones of both "Lamb" and "Stupidest Angel", if you're the praying kind, pray that Moore learns how to empathize with women and non-male individuals as soon as possible.

The commentaries from the dog, Skinner, are my favorite passages. They're hilarious. If I could hear my dogs' thoughts, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what they would sound like.

Overall, I liked the book. It's not going to be the first book that comes to mind when I'm recommending books to others, but it was good. It's fast-paced, witty, and just a lot of fun. If you've read other Christopher Moore books and liked them, you'll enjoy this one too. And the dog's thoughts will have you laughing out loud!

The only reason I kept reading this book was because it was part of a Readalong that I started. I personally thought the humor was very dry. Half the time I didn't know who was who because so many characters were introduced. Not to mention the characters were odd, very odd. None of them were relate-able. The book then just continued to get even weirder. I am glad that I read the whole book however, because it all made sense in the end, in a strange way. I do not plan on reading another Moore book. Just not my cup of tea.

* hilarious, fresh, bizarre and yet somehow simultaneously realistic. I've never read anything quite like it, and it was a wonderful ride. I laughed until my tummy hurt quite a few times!

"Last time I really got to know myself it turned out there was a whole gang of bitches in there to deal with. I felt like the receptionist at a rehab center

"oh, how the pillars of lust can crumble under the weight of stupidity"

"If you think anyone's sane you just don't know enough about them. The key is to find someone whose insanity dovetails your own."

"life is messy. people, generally, suck"

Crass but still funny. Good ending

Kind of an obscure book but i liked the author's sense of humor bit the most part. I'm not sure if I'd recommend this book or read anymore books by this author... But overall if was still enjoyable. Took a second to get into.
