What I loved: Ellie reminds me of me in so many ways. Finding a man who values her and her worth, helping her establish her confidence.. it’s exactly what my husband did for me. Conner is a great man, and I appreciate that he doesn’t continue to let his past define the man he wants to become.
What I would change: I wish the courthouse scene had gone into a bit more detail. I would’ve loved more interactions between Hadley and Conner. I loved their dynamic, and I feel like it fell short.

This book will melt your heart and won't let go until you find out Ellie and Connor's story.
Ellie is the mother of a 7-year-old girl who lives in a house with an abusive husband. Her husband is very violent with her, and when Connor appears on the scene he becomes even more violent with her, to the point of threatening. Ellie does everything to protect her daughter, and after leaving her husband she feels like she can finally breathe.
Connor immediately bonds with Hadley and is the one who saves them. He always dreamed of Ellie after that night they spent together eight years ago, but he didn't know her name until he took Hadley home and saw that the woman of his dreams is the girl's mother.
Their relationship is based on honesty, but when his brother reveals something, everything escalates radically and suddenly the story becomes more and more emotional.
This book made me want to read as many books written by this author as possible. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book with Declan and Sydney.

I had seen all over Booktok that they talked about Corinne Michaels books and to be honest I hadn't dared to grab one until this one. You should know that there are certain TW that you should know before starting the book as they touch on serious topics that may be sensitive for some people.
At times, I was heartbroken by the situation that Ellie is facing, how vulnerable she is but at the same time how strong she has to be to get ahead. This story is one of second chances, where the protagonists are destined to be together despite all the circumstances that try to keep them away.
