When I first started the book, I got the impression that this was going to be another meddling mother-matches-child-to-desired-spouse, and for the most part, I was right. The Duke and his mother visit "very good friends" of the family who just happened to have two eligible daughters. He is expected to marry the oldest daughter, but frankly, he can't see himself with her. He's much more attracted to her younger sister, even with all her faults.

Older sister strikes me as well-trained seal--trained to do all that is expected of her. Being established as a duchess, above all else. When her younger sister decides to enter the marriage market, it's a surprise for her parents, but they'd like nothing better than to have both daughters well-married.

It's a good book. One that I'll keep!

Such a fun and quick regency romance that got me through a travel day from hell and the following day or recovery. This honestly solidified that i have a soft spot for regency romances even if they aren’t written by Julia Quinn, but I do prefer open versus closed door. Even if I have to wait until the marriage to read it.
