** Books 126 - 2020 **

Terimakasih Aiakawa Books!

*spoiler ahead*

I've just finished the book and honestly cried for about half an hour straight. It's so sad. Every couple of pages I'd feel my heart being ripped out of my chest. Devastating but also realistic.

Expected a somewhat sad fable with an important moral message to take away. Instead I got a pointlessly depressing book where countless tragedies befall various dogs. No thanks.

Review to come, perhaps...

That title and cover might lead you to think this is yet another fluffy, happy puppy story but do not be fooled! It is ~160 pages portraying the very realistic life of a dog who grows up in and lives with a poor family, so a couple events in the story might be upsetting if you are very sensitive towards animal welfare.

That said, I enjoyed reading this. For one, it is a short novel with accessible writing and small chapters, which personally made it easier to unpack my thoughts and emotions at any time throughout the book. It is overall still a sweet story and the bonus point: there are so many cute little doodles peppered throughout the book!
