Eh, it was okay. I enjoyed it but not enough to write a decent review of it. Is that bad?

....Okay, honestly? I waited too long to write this review and now I cannot differentiate what happen in this one with the other two. -- BUT Kingston's story arc is fabulous. And learning more about Viv? FINALLY! And that ending? Oh, I liked that little twist. Mab, you little devil.

Fast paced and unusual, this is a surprisingly in depth novel that packs one heck of a punch for the limited number of pages. Answers are given to quite a few of the questions raised in the previous book, and there is less of a mystery angle and more all out action. It's crazy, tense and intense, and it drags you along for the ride, ready or not.

The only bits I didn't engage with were the visions. I get that they were intended to provide context. In honesty, they felt like filler. And really didn't engage with them at all.

That said, as a whole this is very well done. Full of action, drama and betrayals, this will answer some questions yet raise a whole host of others.

The first book was interesting enough to get through but this time around things just feel so convoluted and I can't bring myself to really care about any of the characters. This series just isn't for me unfortunately.

Booktube-A-Thon Challenge: Start and finish a series (2 of 3)

I don’t know what this has turned into but I neither love it or hate it. Just like with the first book…I stopped trying to figure out what was going on and just went along for the ride. And while most of my questions from the first book were answered…there are a hell of a lot of new questions to replace those.

I just don’t even know what this is supposed to be anymore!

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed reading it. There were parts that were really fast paced and engrossing which is why I was able to finish it in 7 hours (give or take half an hour.) But there was still just too much going on. The twists that were revealed, they weren’t really shocking to me because I kind of figured it out in the first novel.

I mean…when you’re constantly pointing out the fact that there is a huge secret that can’t be revealed…it makes it kind of anticlimactic when that secret actually is revealed because then I’ve been expecting it for 400 pages.

There were less annoyances in this book than in the first one, especially when it came to Vivienne and Kingstons relationship, but I think that has to do with the fact that in this book they already have an established relationship and all the awkward attempts at angst were put the rest.

I have to be honest though. I’m not emotionally invested in ANY of these characters. This may be due to there being so many other things going on that is pulling my attention from the characters, or just because the characters are kind of flat and have one note to them.

The ending of this installment kind of annoyed me…only because given the new information Vivienne has…there was a very clear and easy alternative to resolve the issues presented to her. If I were a writer, which I am absolutely not, this would be a duology because I would have written about 25 more pages, taking a different route to a resolution, and removing the leverage a certain someone has over her.

But that’s just me. I will be reading the next book, but at this point its more to finish the booktube-a-thon challenge than having an actual interest in seeing what happens next.

Vampire Fairy…that’s all i’m going to say. Vampire.Fairy.

Act Two is definitely better than Act One. However, I am still not happy.
The story get slightly more interesting and you keep reading out of fascination (not just out of pure obligation to finish the book). I have a hard time really caring for any of the characters, so my connection with the novel is shallow at best.
At least things get moving and the plot moves forward. That's a thumbs up on this front. Kahler did good on that respect. But as I've mentioned in my last review, The Immortal Circus is his first series of books. And that shows. I'm not sure whether I can keep up with his style of writing for another novel. It just not as refined and he keeps repeating himself a lot. If it were just one book, I might be okay with it, but for three books straight this is rather annoying.
Also I'm not sure whether I just got used to all that sex, violence and love story aspect or if it just goes better with the second novel. It didn't feel as out of place as it did in the last book.

These books are so easy to fly through! One day read :)

This book picks up right where the 1st one left off. I did not like this one as much as the first one, although it did get better as it went along. There were a lot of twists and turns I didn't see coming, and the book ended in an entirely different place then I thought it would. Although the last paragraph gave me some hope for a HEA in the third book :) Which I am patiently awaiting! It is coming out right now as a Kindle Serial, but I hope it goes onto Prime for free once they are all released here in a month or so. If not, I'll buy it, but I can be patient to wait and see and hopefully save some money xD

I dove into these books hoping to satiate my need to return to something like the Night Circus. It helps that need a tiny bit, but the fey notes have taken over and taken it in that direction, which I don't mind at all.

I say definitely try this series out. It is good and different. Can't wait for book 3!

This part of the story picks up three months after the incidents of Act One. It was very interesting but somewhat predictable. Vivian is finding out her past and things are not as they seem. It was good but not run out to get the next book great for me.

This specific video review will be included in the May 2018 wrap-up.

Not quite as ironed out as Act One, but still a fun, fast read. I like the risks A.R. is taking, and would like to see more in the next book.

I have to say; I enjoyed Act Two a lot more than the first book. The first book left me with so many questions, and I feel like Act Two answered them and then some. For the most part, I was surprised by the turn of events in this story. I didn't see most of it coming, which made it pretty exciting. I liked Vivienne a lot more in this book as well. She didn't feel as swoony over Kingston, and I felt like her initial out of placed swooning was explained a bit. I didn't want to put this one down!
