The main character, Darius, is Iranian-American, clinically depressed, fat, and has Father Issues.

I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would, to be honest. It's sad yet has a lot of hopeful and happy moments. I also liked the social commentary on schools trying to be inclusive, but explains why most of these efforts ultimately fail. The part on where Darius didn't feel "enough" (in this case, not "Iranian enough") is very relatable to a lot of POC living in the States.

WoW. I’ve read it in french. And it was amazing. Honestly I love Darius, such a great character (no puns intended). Finding your place. But what really touched me is how the book talks about depression, I cried when he talks to his dad. It’s such a great book. And now I don’t know if I can read another book before a while.
It’s really a great book

All I knew about this book was that 1) people loved it and 2) the author's local to me. And that it was gay in some fashion. I'm a little disappointed about the queerness -- I was hoping for something more out there. But I still loved the book! I loved how it focused on confronting not fitting in, bullying, depression, and father and son relationships. It was such a great read. I entirely plan on reading the next book in this because I want to see what the next chapter is.
