It started off well. It was quite intriguing, the amnesiac with the healed bullet wound and his maid but.... it fell flat. The ending was too convoluted and it was too difficult to see how Maigret got to the solution.

Seaside treachery in which under omnipresent fog a man, already recovering from a mysterious head wound, has been poisoned. Good cast in this one with briny dick workers and even saltier magistrates. Lovely evocative setting where, typical, you can smell the bay, hear the foghorns, feel the chill across your face. The ending, for me, came a little out of nowhere, but the puzzles along the way were reward enough.

Loved the beginning with all the atmosphere and sense of place. Ending was a bit too ing and for ing for me. Lack of Maigret weirdly in this one too, he felt like a side character!
