No dudan si existen o no los vampiros? Es porque no han leído este libro. Buenísima historia con toques de terror y misterio (a la antigua) que mantienen una historia muy interesante. Tuve que leer el final 2 veces porque me dejó muy sorprendida.

First 5⭐️ read of the year! I really loved this prequel to Dracula. While there are obvious nods to Dracula and Bram Stoker himself here, this author duo really made Dracul their own story. It even made me cry a couple of times, which I did not expect. I’ll definitely be rereading this one for years to come. I highly recommend Dracul, especially if you’re already a fan of Dracula. If classics aren’t your thing, I think this would still be a good book for someone who hasn’t read Bram Stokers Dracula.

Okay, so definitely NOT what I was expecting, and to be quite honest, I don't know whether to believe all of this happened to Bram or not....Very compelling evidence, some of which the authors add to an afterward/note section. But truthfully, I'd like to believe Bram and his siblings had an encounter with the man who later became Dracula.

When I first began reading, I was instantly hooked and had trouble putting the book down, but as the pages wore on, the less interested I became and more skimming I began. Then I would jump back and be ravenous with my reading, and then get bored.

But anyway, good read, would definitely recommend!

Stoker's prequel to Dracula is just almost (if not just) as exciting as the original story. There's a sense of thrill and action in every part of the plot, and it's definitely a great page turner.

The journal format also gives a personal touch that makes the reader feel closer to Bram Stoker. The author of the original Dracula has become a bit of a mythical figure, and this story deepens his mysterious past. I also appreciated Dacre's explanations at the end of this novel about the mysterious circumstances surrounding the original manuscript of Dracula. This prequel (although fictional), made me want to go back and reread Dracula just to see if there were any parallels that Dacre decided to include between the two.

I definitely recommend this novel for anyone looking for a classic thriller full of creepy vampires that are actually evil and aren't looking for love.

Oh my word. Whatever I expected when I started this book, I have to say it is so much better than I thought it would be. The characters, so fully flushed out, and the horror, so real. Everyone should read this. It does not disappoint, and it doesn't ruin the original Dracula at all, in my opinion.

I'm not a vampire enthusiast. I've never seen the movie adaptation of the sequel to this book. I'd never even heard of Bram Stoker before picking this book up. But the idea of an in-depth look into the origins of a classic horror icon really appealed to me, so I decided to give it a chance. This book did not deliver on that; instead choosing to explore a mysterious relationship between a boy and his vampire baby-sitter. That being said, the characters were interesting and relatable. I also appreciated the book's willingness to push the boundaries of the classic vampire to include new abilities and limitations.

Putting that aside..

THE ENTIRE BUILDUP IN THE FIRST 2 PARTS OF THE BOOK IS RESOLVED JUST BY THE SUN COMING OUT? (Lame, but OK.) YOU GAVE BRAM SUPERPOWERS IN THE LAST 50 PAGES OF THE BOOK AND THEN HE USES THEM ONCE??? ONCE???????? FOR COCKROACHES ON THE MINIONS????? THEN HE WAITS 22 YEARS TO THINK ABOUT SAVING THE NANNY THAT HE'S SPENT THE WHOLE BOOK LOOKING FOR??? THEY DON'T EVEN TRY TO FIGHT DRACUL??? AFTER ALL THAT, EVERYONE JUST STANDS THERE????? happy ever after. sorry for all the torture. DID THE AUTHOR RUN OUT OF INK??? WHYYYYYYYY???????? Worst. Ending. Ever.

Dracul restores the bite of a monster that has been watered down over the years. The book follows a few periods of Bram Stokers life and cleverly intertwines them with legend. The book introduces multifaceted characters and page turning mysteries. My only disappointment was that the ending didn’t quite feel as clever as the rest the of the book. That said, this book is well worth your read.

On the printing of the book: the hard cover is well produced, with a beautiful spine, and the pages are well typeset.
