It was a well written book but the tropes were predictable and at times I felt like the character banter lacked. It was more along the lines of insta-love which when done well can really be adorable but this one needed a little more development. On top of that the characters focused soooo much on the age gap and mentioned that age is just a number and that since she experienced trauma it makes her older in a sense? But it was kind of annoying how many times it was brought up.
Moderate: Alcoholism, Gun violence, Toxic relationship, Violence, Alcohol, and Injury/Injury detail

Iβve decided I love anything Elsie Silver writes (even if it isnβt all that great tbh π) but I am definitely partial to her Chestnut Springs series. This one was definitely the best one from the Gold Rush Ranch series though!
My biggest qualm with A False Start is that it was just too damn long. I skimmed the last probably 30% because by that point it was just dragging on with a side plot that just really wasnβt necessary in my opinion.
Aside from that though I absolutely loved Nadia and Griffin π₯Ή the build up to their relationship was great and my man Griffin has a way with words π₯΅
