I am sad to say I dropped and will not rate this. The Gilded Ones is one of my favorite YA books and this one just feels like a standard YA novel. All of the elements about it that made it unique are toned down in favor of a standard YA fantasy adventure with some romance. I am sure that works for a lot of people, but I loved that book for very particular reasons, none of which are present here.

Just as great as the first one. Namina knows how to reveal twists!! They are endless and so well done 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 There’s LGBTQ+ rep, tons of action, heartbreak and awesomeness. I’m loving this series!!!

I was sad that I didn’t like this book and couldn’t justify continuing it. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but this one immediately fell flat. It felt like way too much was happening too quickly, without any space for reaction or impact.

Dnf at 90 pages, just really struggling to engage after enjoying the first one a lot. Too heavy on the chosen one trope and I’m a bit over YA fantasy. I may give it another go when the third one comes out.
