A collection of 4 short stories by Boccaccio from the 14th Century to kick off the Penguin Little Black Classics.

I liked reading the first 3, but although tale number 4 'Patient Griselda' had something of a message to it ("What can be said here except that divine spirits descend from heaven into even poor houses and into royal houses come spirits which deserve more to look after pigs than be lords over men?"), Boccaccio had a terrible way of getting to it and I was hoping there'd be a twist. There wasn't.

Odd, of its day; I'd probably read more...
