Another great romance from Alyssa Cole! For me, the one downfall of this book was the romance trope used. I simply don’t like a boss/employee romance. However, that one strike aside, the book was still very fun, sexy, heartfelt, etc... I will be starting the next installment of the series ASAP!

I had a hard time getting into these characters. I'm just didn't like them as well as the mains in the first book.

Still it was a decent book, it picked up toward the end and had a good story.

This was much better than the first book in the series and I lived the characters. That being said, the ending was pretty rushed and the Duke plot could have been a better.

I liked the premise of the book, but I found Portia to be very unlikable. I wanted to skip through all of the passages where she is stressed out and anxious about her situation. Tavish was a likable character, but I did not like how much he leaned on Portia for support once he learned he was the duke. I am interested in reading Johan's book. This book can be read as a standalone; I did not read the first book in the series, and I was still able to understand what was going on in this book. I also did not find the relationship between Portia and her twin sister to be very believable. Fans of Talia Hibbert will enjoy this book.

Yoo I have such a fun time reading this book I'm glad that I'm continuing this series. There were quite a few LOL moments and when it came to Portia's crushing moments I felt that too. And that choking scene though

I just want to see how they dealt with David but I guess we'll find out in the next book passively.

I'm not in the right mindset for this right now.
Will give it another go someday.

This is a great example of a flawed heroine who is easy to relate to and overcomes her hurdles in a realistic way. Portia, a native of New York City, applies for and is accepted for an internship program at a sword-maker's in Scotland. Portia views herself as the imperfect one of a pair of twin sisters; one of her issues in her family is that she is too flighty and never sticks to one thing long enough. When she arrives, she meets Tavish, who is known locally for his gruff (even rude!) manners and the heart of gold beneath, because you know, it's a romance novel. Portia's research reveals an unsuspected truth about Tav and his family which turns everything upside down. I enjoy Portia's energetic personality and Tav's passion for social justice. Will read another in this series.
