It has good morals, and a good idea on how humans met there end (of the Rusty era) but this book just doesn't do it for me. The writing, it's simply not my style. The transitions are shaky and sometimes it took me a while to figure out what happened, although I do plan on reading the next book just for the sake of it

Young adult science fiction novel about unwilling teenagers having operations to become "Pretty." The writing wasn't great, the plot was okay, but the characters were one-dimensional and uninteresting. I won't be finishing the series.

So I'm between giving this a 3.5-4 only because while I thought the plot and every new technology was awesome and deserves 5 stars, I felt like this dragged out for so long, only to have everything happen super fast at the end. I mean sure, there were a few chapters based on adventure like finding the smoke, and such, but I felt like it focused more on her feeling bad for being a spy, than actually showing the relationships evolve. The only one I really got to know was Shay, which makes sense it's a lot about her, but I think skimming over the David parts made the ending weird. I mean I just do t feel like you'd think some guy will come save you when he found out you lied about everything you spoke about and ended up having his dad "killed". (I seriously don't think that's the case people) any who. Yeah. That's all I guess! Just wish I could have gotten into it before the last 'part' as I tried so hard to read this and kept going to find better things after a few pages every time I read it.... Whoops
