It's the Fall of 1989, and best friends Alex and Roger are enjoying their senior year of high school. They have been working together on a science project that Roger insists will beat whatever it is that his arch nemesis, Heidi, is making. During a test run, though, Alex accidentally hits a random string of characters that does something ... weird, and they are looking at a portal to 2020.

After discussing the possibilities, Alex and Roer decide to go through the portal and learn what their future will be like. But, things are not what they expected, nor what they think they want, so they make plans to change things. But, their future selves also remember this little trip and begin interfering with what their past selves are doing.

This was such a fun book to read. As a child of the 80's and early 90's it was really funny to read about the styles and pop culture of the late 80's right next to the styles and pop culture of today. While I lived through the development of all the things we have today, I can only imagine how jarring today's technology would be to someone from 1989; and that doesn't even take into account the amount of text-speak that has crept into our spoken language.

I also really liked the concept of being honest with yourself and who you are, and how the inability to do so will only cause problems. I would definitely read this book again, and I hope there is a sequel that follows up on the epilogue of this one.
