Intelligent, interesting, but heavily naval gazing.  It appeared to be written chronologically at first, but it devolved into topical essays that got away from her family history or jewish lore to zionism, eating disorders, and mostly a dismaying understanding that the author is somewhat blinded by her privilege.  glad I read it, mostly, and glad I'm done.

This book had potential, but I found it structurally difficult to follow and frequently questioned why the author was categorizing a particular thing as a shanda. Maybe I’m just not her target audience: she certainly thinks that millennials have less built in shame than her generation.
