I read this book to screen to before gifting it to my nephew. Age range for this one is 12-17. There are a few passages about masterbation and inquiries/questions about sex.

Trying to reread Judy Blume books from childhood and they hold up. Deenie definitely reminded me of my middle school years some good and some not so good memories.

Deenie is a seventh grader who judges people's imperfections until she gets one. Then and only then does she have a bit of empathy. I appreciate her relationship with her older sister. Helen was a great older sister.

I think I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if I read it in middle school. However, it took me only 30 minutes to read and was rather disappointing. But I could see a younger audience loving it.
