This was cute, and I enjoyed it. Just like the first book, it wasn't my favorite and I didn't really like the characters. However, it was enjoyable overall.

Cute conclusion <3

Love Jax.
I really really like Gia. I feel she's a strong, independent woman that can rattle Jax's world enough to well...you'll see.

Politics. Food.
It's a match made in hell lol

This installment definitely had a lot more 'meat' to it! I am amazed at how much Sylvia Day can pack in to so few pages. This was a nicely done HEA.

Good. But predictable...

Aftershock picks right up where Afterburn left off and continues Jax and Gia's romance. With a story that is much more tension filled and angsty. But still, as sexy, fast paced, enjoyable and entertaining to read. And I would happily recommend it to others.

Aftershock was a much better story than Afterburn. There were more glaring editing errors in this book, but the story itself was much better told. I'm giving it a two out of five because of the fact that it didn't grip me until around chapter eight. The book only has ten chapters, so I felt like I was just stating to get into the story when it ended. Again, Sylvia Day shows her talent. The writing isn't the problem for me. It wasn't in the first book either. However, this book still felt extremely rushed. There was so much sex, and just not enough story. I'm not usually one who skims the sex scenes. I tend to find that in a lot of cases the dialogue during helps with building the emotion between the characters. However, by the time I got to chapter five, I just couldn't do it anymore. There were just so many. It would have been much better if some of that time was spent developing the characters/plot instead of filling the void with steam.

Yeah… Also 1.5 stars, because this is basically just the continuation of book one. (I mean, every sequel is, but still… Day could’ve condensed them. I get that they were meant to be short, but they were published a year apart from each other.)

Seriously though, I don’t remember a lick of this book. Nothing at all. I seriously don’t. I had to reread the summary, and even then I hardly remember it. I remember where book one left off: View Spoiler » But that’s it. I remember the “big secret”:
SpoilerJax’s mom was institutionalized and kept from the public eye to avoid embarrassment of the family.
But that’s it.

This book series is so forgettable.
