Cute. I enjoyed it. He seemed to fall too easily then the birthday scene really bothered me but other than that good.

This was a decent book in the series.. not my favorite but it was cute. It didn't get many laughs out of me though. It just orbited around the fake marriage trope and the soapy drama with Marvin. It did feel like Rex & Tabitha's connection was genuine but Tabitha was pissing me off. Like, GIRL... come on. Sometimes sunshine characters annoy the hell out of me and she was one of them. Her "sad face" and "gasp" crap were cringe as hell.
The birthday dinner? Wow. I was stressed out. WTF Rex?
Also, I feel like the spice factor is getting milder as I progress through this series.... boooooo.
BUT.. I did like the story overall & had a good time reading but I see no reason to re-read it ever.

I cannot stand grown ass women who act like children and their grown ass male counterparts who are just big bullies because they want to get their way all the time. It's not cute. Who likes these books?

Am I just jaded now? The guy caused her intense trauma on her birthday, after knowing she already had trauma on her birthday from her dad, and then is magically forgiven. She’s too good for him and I was actively rooting for them to not end up together. But this is a romance book so all is forgiven. The writing is fine, but I was just powering through to finish the book by the end. Opposites may attract, but the male lead should rot and let the female lead just be supported by her friends.

Synopsis:
Tabitha Evans, Rex O’Rourke's hairdresser, finds him handsome in a gothic way. And she's someone who takes his temper in her stride. As well as looks forward to the opportunities to rile him up. She thinks he is always unnecessarily annoyed with her.
A financial powerbroker, Rex needs to convince one of his biggest clients that they can rely on him to manage all of their assets. For that, he has to prove that he's not the sex maniac and playboy heartbreaker that an article about him recently claimed. And his right-hand man might have just slipped about him having a fiancée to that client!
Review:
This is my first read by Annika Martin. Narrated in the first person alternately from Rex and Tabitha's perspective, it all starts with Tabitha needing to take a break from her high flier hairdresser duties because of a stress injury to her wrist. With her hamster Seymour in tow, she has to think fast what can she do to not land on the street when the perfect opportunity pops up.
With this line, Tabitha's mine. I mean, I relate with her so well. Whether it be her obsession with soap operas or her being the funnest person. Her relating moods with hair and her comprehension of Rex's growls is so funny, so is Rex making an actual list of attributes he finds annoying. I loved how Tabitha had a building full of support system. Thirty to his forty, they're both on a mega-yacht with his client and the client's big extended family, in order to show how real they are. There's a lot of humorous suspense right there as a family member acts in a shady manner.
The part that bothered me was how much telling it involved instead of showing, which was hugely off-putting for most of the first half of the novel. The story took place within the span of a few weeks, starting in Manhattan and continuing on a yacht for the most part and coming a full circle back to Manhattan. Another thing that bothered me was how Tabitha's wrist injury was hardly a concern during their time on the yacht. Also, Seymour got no action which made me very sad. Out of the band of building girlfriends, we have had Vicky, Lizzie, Mia, and now Tabitha's stories. Next up are Noelle and another surly guy's story!
P.S. Through Tabitha the soap obsessed, the author pays tribute to three shows, Days of Our Lives, As the World Turns, and Dark Shadows. While I haven't watched any of them, they seem to be classic dramas, and seeing that I do watch Indian soaps, I can totally understand Tabitha's craze! (If I can, I'd love to watch Dark Shadows. Vampy goodness, after all.)

A fun escape from reality. I loved the characters, the plot, the ending. This is just an all around great romance.
