- No rating because non-fiction, although my enjoyment of it overall was 4/5!
- Some were a bit hit and miss but I appreciated the style more after I found out it was slam poetry.
- I was really struck by the vivid imagery and stories of the LGBTQIA+ experience in these poems; I really felt how impactful these were.

This book reminded me of when you go out on a first date, and the date is going well. But then, as the date progresses, you're starting to feel like maybe a second date isn't a good idea. That's what I felt with this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed a couple of poems; "Boomerang Valentine" and "Dear Tinder" were two examples. "Orlando" related to the shooting in Pulse felt insensitive. Also, I am not a Trump supporter, yet I started to feel annoyed by the amount of times Gibson brought him up. Overall, the blurb was misleading as it didn't mention how political the poetry gets.

I also want to respect the author's passion for her poetry; you can feel that while reading. Maybe if I was listening to the spoken word instead of reading, it would be a different experience. It was challenging to develop a rating for this book, but when one reviewer mentioned how it felt like the poet came off as an angsty teenager, I realized they hit the nail on the head.

I would recommend this book to people who like Buzzfeed, feminists, and people who enjoy arguing on Facebook.

Beautiful, sad, and hopeful all at once. “Orlando” and “America, Reloading” were heartbreaking dedications to America’s gun violence crisis - “Orlando” in particular made me emotional.

My two favourites were “Fight for Love” and “Living Proof”. “Living Proof”’s story of the author and the man on the bridge intertwined was extremely moving to me.

The issues I had with this probably just come from the fact that reading poetry is hard for me sometimes? The formatting of a few of them threw me off. That said, absolutely stunning book. Heartwrenching work but definitely worth the read.

I have so much love for Andrea Gibson and there are many poems and lines in this collection that I keep coming back to. "America, Reloading" in particular is incredibly powerful.
