Hele, tohle je knížka, na kterou potřebujete "čas a místo".

Není to moc příběhový, je to spíš takový proud vědomí ženy která se rozhoduje zda mít nebo nemít děti. Kniha rozebírá argumenty pro a proti, obavy ze ztráty svobody i různé pohledy na to, co to znamená být rodičem a přivést na svět další lidskou bytost.

Asi mi to sedlo i proto, protože se mě tohle téma docela dotýká a přečíst si záznam ruminace někoho jiného pro mě v tuhle chvíli bylo obohacující.

Na druhý straně je nutné říct, že chvilkami se autorka fakt točí v nikam nevedoucích kruzích a umím si představit, jak frustrující to může být čtení pro někoho jiného kdo se v tomhle tématu zrovna až tak nebabrá. Hlavně ve druhé polovině knihy už jsem měla pocit, že je to prostě snaha nějak si své rozhodnutí obhájit před sebou a světem a občas jsem stránky zavírala s neuvěřitelně intenzivním pocitem "OMG kašli na to už pro Boha živýho".

This was a mixed read for me. Some sections were electrifying, others were painful. I enjoyed Heti’s grappling with the question of motherhood and I do like it when writers like Heti, Cusk and Daum confront this topic. But something was slightly askew for me and the novelty of the questioning and coin tossing wore off for me pretty quickly. So I definitely didn’t love it as much as many of you did but parts of it were breathtaking.

What if James Joyce had experienced crippling anxiety and PMDD in the midst of a midlife crisis? (I mean this as a compliment)
