I just couldn't get into this book (though I previously liked books by this author). It felt whiny and complaining in a way that wasn't amusing. I found myself slogging through it trying to finish so I could get to my next book. At 60% I just gave up and moved on.

Can't think of the last time I laughed out loud so often and so hard at a book. Almost choked to death eating lunch while reading, but it was so worth it.

Must immediately read everything else she's ever written.

I was literally laughing out loud many times throughout this book. However, this is the first book of Lancaster's I've read and it took some time to get used to her writing style. She seems to lead a rather interesting life. I'm glad she writes about it so others can join in her funny life stories.

I loved "Bitter is the New Black" and this one is just as good. Jen Lancaster just puts it like it is. You know sometimes in life you just have to be a bit**!!!!. She has wicked sense of humor and I love it. I can hardly wait for her 3rd one to be published!!!!!

This book is hilarious. And being a Chicagoan makes it even better, since I know EXACTLY what she's talking about, where she's at, and so on. Can't wait to read the next one! :)

I struggled with the authors narrative and had difficulty relating to her.

This book is a series of essays by Jen Lancaster. Her personality really comes through and there's a lot of tongue in cheek humor in this book. What is missing, in my opinion, is some heart and a unifying thread between the essays.

Another great gift of a memoir from Jen Lancaster, "Bright Lights, Big Ass" is an honest and hilarious portrayal of the stage of life we all experience of settling down and growing up. Lancaster's engrossing writing style is as perfect as always as she tells us her love/hate relationship with her beloved city of Chicage.
