Much better in premise, the actual story itself didn’t leave a lasting impression.

Cool concept but truly nothing really happens but torture and misogynistic remarks. The idea of this is pretty harrowing though and I liked the last scene.

The scene that the title is based on is interesting and well written but overall the book just has a lot of stuff in it that is weird and not needed.

"He was Earth, and we were the fruit of that Earth; and though he had eaten us, he would never digest us.". Astonishing short story. I have seen numerous interpretations on it and people talking about it's deeply rooted philosophical questions it arises as well as the potentially warnings it contains. Having read it myself now I cannot stop to think about any of it in some deeper sense. The anologly where AM appeared to the five of them as a burning bush really enhanced this godlike character he/it has and it simply put so much more depth into it than "simply" the godclaim. Ams limits also contradict this anologly which makes it a tud more interesting still.
I do recommend, though it is hard to digest and may trigger.

oh how i love love sci-fi. truly quite a disgusting read and incredibly done. in such a short piece of work there is so much that can be discussed - the portrayal and physical use of ellen alone is something i could go on and on about. i’m glad my brother stumbled across the title and mentioned it to me. now we’re both traumatised.
