I loved this book so much!! It was a joy to listen to. And the heroine’s name is Elaine!

Elaine is a seamstress raising two children that aren’t hers. She welcomes an older gentleman shelter from the rain and that kindness changes her life.

Adam is a second son and hopes to inherit his uncle’s estate when he passes, but instead it goes to a stranger. And to complicate things, the will stipulates that Adam has to help the new owner.

It’s a happy, light-hearted book, just exactly what I needed to read, giving hope that kindness wins out in the end.

3.5 stars. This was a very unique storyline and I really liked both Elaine and Adam. I’m not sure I really felt their chemistry though. They were definitely kind to each other and I think they made good friends, but I didn’t really see the relationship building or feel the “spark” that would have made them being in love believable.

Loved this second book in the Entangled Inheritance series. Each book in the series is unique and can be read as a stand alone, but they each fall into the category of someone receiving an inheritance with a unique caveat involved. In this story, a wealthy third son happens to be offered shelter in a seamstresses shop during a bad rainstorm. He is deeply impressed with the kindness of the young woman. When he dies a short time later, he names her as his heir. This completely shocks his extended family who have been counting on this inheritance. The only extended family member who has any real chance at any real money is his nephew Adam who thought that he would inherit. Adam is promised all of his uncle's stocks if he helps the seamstress for a year. Adam has a choice whether to help her or sabotage her for his own gain. When he sees how beautiful and kind she is, Adam begins to question himself and his family's wishes.

Loved this story and have enjoyed all the books in the series so far. After reading this, I would love to read more book by Sally Britton!

“I know you have no need of me, but I have come to need you. More desperately every day. I have tried, and failed, to resist my growing affection for you. You deserve so much better, so much more, than what I have to offer. You see, I have only myself, and you ought to be given all the treasures of the earth. But you have only to tell me—Elaine, you must tell me how to win your forgiveness. I must have that…”
~ Adam

I just adored this story. Elaine is the sweetest, most compassionate, most genuine soul and she deserves every happiness in the world for herself and her children.

Hardworking, frugal, and extremely competent, she makes a comfortable living for her family, while trying to helps others in need. Months after a chance encounter with a seemingly poor, downtrodden stranger she finds herself an heiress. She is shocked to discover the wealthy gentleman has left her with his entire estate.

Adam is disgusted when he discovers his uncle has left his family with nearly nothing after his death. But what is more confounding is that he left the majority to an old tradeswoman he has never even heard of. In order for Adam to receive his portion of the will he must assist the seamstress in adjusting to her new life and learning the ways of society. His family schemes against Elaine and Adam is a willing accomplice. But this seamstress turned heiress is definitely not what he expects. She turns his world upside down. Can he redeem himself in her eyes?

This is a stand alone novel, but it is also a prequel to Her Unsuitable Match. Either can be read alone but much more enjoyable to see the connections and the family interaction between the two books. And, of course, I always seem to read related stories in the wrong order! But no harm done, nothing was spoiled and it was delightful.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this one! If you are looking for a new historical romance author you need to check Sally Britton out! I love the way she writes, she is very talented! Loved Elaine and Adam’s story. Elaine is just so good to her bones and I loved how she helped Adam to be a better person, to me that’s real life/love when you inspire the other to be better version or embrace the best parts of themself. Clean Romance I didn’t want to put down!

Loved this book by Britton, always fantastic sweet romances. I loved Elaine meeting Mr. Peter Gillensford and how strong she is in always choosing kindness.

It was wonderful to see Adam change but I expected more from his mother. I know this book is part of a series with other authors but I hope Britton writes more, I want to see Philippa have her own HEA.

This was fine but it lacked a bit of the substance that I came to expect from Sally Britton's works. Maybe it's because I've working my way through various works of great or at least very good literature, and I was wanting some more of that, instead of just a fluffy love story.
I can't wait to read Her Unsuitable Match when I'm more in the mood for this kind of book. The solicitor character was one I really enjoyed and I hear he is in that one as well.
