**2018 re-read: honestly this is like my third or four time reading it and the story still gets to me**

--------------------------------

I was really excited for this book, not only because I'm a fan of Colleen but because it involves two of the things I love the most: books and music.

So, the book: because of the blurb I was expecting something different (more light, maybe?) but it was good. At first, I wasn't really happy about the fact that
SpoilerRidge had a girlfriend, of 5 years! I hate love triangles, I avoid them like the plague, and I hate cheating so I was torn reading this because I loved Rydge and Sydney but... HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND.
The whole situation really hurt me and I really felt for the characters and the situation they were in (I might have cried a little in certain scenes..).

And the music: I loved it. I loved that I could listen to the songs while they were writing them and I think some of the songs were really good so that was great! It made reading the book so much better.

This gets 5 stars because, even though the subject is not one of my favourite things, the story is really worth reading, I loved the characters and the music just makes everything better.

3.5 Stars - There might be spoilers in this? I don’t really know. You can read the synopsis if you’re interested in reading this. Sorry this is long, it’s a vent about this book at this point.

Okay, okay. Did I stay up until 2AM to finish this? Perhaps. Definitely have mixed feelings. I had to warm up to this book. I didn’t like it at first because of the whole cheating situation… Maggie definitely deserved better. He should’ve told her about Sydney and everything that happened right when it did. Anyway, once you got past the heartbreak point in the book, it was cute how he was trying to get her in his life again. Also, failed to mention this man is deaf and there’s a lot of intimate moments in this book… Not in that way, but just cute emotional moments. I did not like the trip that it took to get to this point because I loved Maggie (might be a little biased.) but it was a cute ending.

I might read the sequel and I’m super excited to read the novella about Warren and Bridgette’s story. (They’re Ridge’s friends.)

This was good. I felt sad at some parts but I never cried. I would still recommend it for people but I though the beginning was kinda dry. It gets better as it goes on though

CoHo has a way of taking subjects that are unacceptable in real life and making your brain see otherwise, lol. This book touches subjects like cheating, emotional cheating, moving on too quickly, and falling in love with the other..however... It made sense somehow. Growing up and learning, you've outgrown who you thought you loved, and meeting someone who can continue to help you grow through your new adult life. I get it.. I've been there; outgrown a partner. I adored ALL the characters, minus a few, and I was actually smiling at the end. Definitely don't think this is for everyone to read? 5/10 recommend.

**MIGHT BE SPOILERS** I liked this book a lot more than I expected. I liked that Sydney and Ridges relationship were so honest. but what they did to Maggie was not it. I also love Warren and I cannot wait to read his book.

Interesting concept, but felt it was just meh. Some parts really pulled me in but others I just felt kind of bored reading.

Sydney has a great job and and even better boyfriend. Then she finds out that her boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend. Sydney is heartbroken, but then she meets Ridge and hopes that the friendship that forms between them will help ease the pain. The two of them begin writing songs together, and she starts to forget her ex, realizing that a little distance is just what she needed.
