Second read: Loved it just as much as the first time! I really want to travel to Georgia lmao
This was recommended to me by a friend, and I'm so glad I picked it up! It's a lovely story about two Japanese men who decide to go on a trip around the world together, and if they can stay together through this trip, they will get married when they get home. In this first book they travel to Thailand, India and Georgia, and get lost, get scammed, meet new people, visit must-see tourist destinations, and eat a lot of food.
The creator puts a lot of care into drawing each meal the characters eat and describing them in detail, and the whole comic makes me crave travelling overseas again. I think I might have to add Georgia to my list of places I want to travel to one day!
The character dynamics at play here are a bit sunshine and grump, and Asahi has a lot of internalised homophobia he's dealing with - he jumps up like a cat that's had its tail stopped on whenever Mitsuki so much as tries to touch his hand while out in public. Each new person they meet on their travels seems to impart some new wisdom onto Asahi - or at the very least, help him come to a realisation - about his relationship with Mitsuki.
It's a lovely read that filled me with wonderlust!

I received this book from Netgalley/publisher in exchange of an honest review.
Confession-time, I hadn’t exactly read the blurb. I just saw the cover, read some key words like travel and closer together and that was it for me. So the whole romance part came as a very HAPPY surprise to me. Yes, I say HAPPY because I was just smiling from ear to ear while reading this one.
I already had a feeling something was up between the two, there was some tension, but I didn’t think they were together giving that they kept holding a bit of distance, as if something was standing between them. And then came right before the went to board the plane and Mitsuki just promptly confessed that they were going to get married and some more. OH MAN, at that it wouldn’t surprise me if anyone heard me squeal real loud.

The art is very pretty and I enjoyed the story overall. It was a little hard to get through for some reason, so I’ll hold off on reading the sequels for now. I like Atsushi & Mitsuki’s relationship.
