This book took a perfect turn from edge of your seat thriller, to somber reflection on mental illness. I believe that Hannah is the perfect character because she is imperfect, and therefore human. It was so beautifully tragic.

Was going to be a two-star rating until the ending, which I hated enough to drop it down a full star. Good writing and I was engaged enough to see where it was going, but the mental health rep felt...not great. Granted, I don't have psychosis, but it felt icky to me, personally.

I would like to thank Edelweiss and Sourcebooks Fire for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4.5-49. stars.

This book was amazing! I am obviously feeling stingy this year as really this should be a 5 star but for some reason I can't click that last star.

I really loved this story. Hannah was for the most part a very relatable character. She had me guessing from the beginning what was happening and eventually what was wrong with her.
SpoilerI actually didn't guess the hallucinations until the doctor told Hannah. Really good story writing.

I felt so bad for Hannah. Her parents are obviously not good parents. Probably a lot of people would see them as good parents because they took care of her financially but obviously they lacked in a lot of other areas. :(

I wasn't keen on the doctor at first. 'Lightfoot'. She seemed uninterested and not caring. But she grew on me.

SpoilerI felt really bad for the girl who was in the coma. I can't believe that Hannah might have caused that!

Agnes Smith’s life will never be the same. Neither will mine

I read this book in a couple hours. If you want to read a book with an unreliable narrator, this is the perfect book for that.
I truly believed (just like Hannah) that Lucy was real.
Seriously if you want to read a book that's not like other book read this one!!

A great first person narrative perspective where you don't know how trustworthy the narrator actual is. I enjoyed how the story continued after the resolution to the case and the similarities drawn between both characters. Very well written and a fast read. Wish there was more of a twist but the story was true to life.
