I really enjoyed the stand up, but my problem is that I kept wanting this book to be something that it isn’t: a memoir.

You get little glimpses into his life at the start of each decade, but other than that it’s straight bits back to back.

Lots of jokes ... Many are funny .. it's an interesting peek into the notebook of a stand up comedian ..

If you appreciate the Seinfeld TV Show, you'll enjoy this book. It's basically different/fuller or more developed iterations of many of the best jokes that were on the TV show. There's also a lot more from Jerry's stand-up routines. They're broken down by decade so it's interesting to see the development of his comedy.

Though it may seem that this book would be perfect for audiobook rather than hardcover. I would highly suggest reading it rather than listening to it. I rented both from the library and found the audiobook to be a subpar performance of the material, but could I expect. I belive reading the material gives much more insight on how the bits are written. Though everyone is different...

Seinfeld's jokes from the last five decades. For me, not a book you can sit down and read straight through but pick up when you have an extra 10 to 15 minutes. Some I remember from seeing his stand up routine, some made me laugh out loud. Glad I purchased this book because it's one I will most likely revisit every so often when I'm looking for a good laugh.

I listened to this as an audiobook on a very long car ride and it was the perfect listen. It was narrated by Jerry and just felt like you were listening to one of his shows. The jokes were grouped into time periods, but otherwise there wasn't a lot of cohesion to them (but that didn't detract from anything).
My main qualms about this are mainly how the audiobook also had a secondary narrator that read out all the titles of the jokes before Jerry told them, but as these jokes were one offs it felt much more like an incessant interruption than anything helpful. Obviously, if you read the physical book that wouldn't be a problem, and perhaps titles between each individual joke would aid in better understanding things, but it was a very poor direction to go with the audiobook. That being said, hearing Jerry deliver his own jokes is definitely worth giving it a listen.
