How the Penguins Saved Veronica (aka Away with the Penguins) is told from the POV of three different characters – 85-year-old Veronica, Patrick, the grandson she never knew she had, and blog entries written by Terry, one of the scientists working on the penguin research project.

This was the book I needed to read – full of humor, but also full of heart. I took my sweet time listening to the audio. I don’t care for snow or cold weather, but I did not want to leave Antarctica. The author reeled me in with Veronica’s outlandish behavior and her Dowager Countess vibes. She had me laughing out loud, hard and often. And then . . . BAM! The story went to a place I was not expecting. I am still recovering.

The narrators, especially Helen Lloyd, are outstanding. Just because of her I recommend the audio over reading the print.

The cover makes me smile!

Pip the Penguin is so cute! I need my own penguin.
