This was an amazing listen! Stephen Frye does a superb job as a narrator. I’ve loved Sherlock Holmes & Dr. Watson since I was a kid. There wasn’t one story I disliked or found uninteresting. For my fellow audiobook enthusiasts I will share that is available for free for members of Audible.

Very solid. I probably would've done better to listen to this in chunks, but I was struggling to find anything else I was in the mood to get, so this kept lasting for me. It was well narrated (except for any American accents, which were a bit atrocious and distracting) and well produced. I have enjoyed many television and movie iterations of Sherlock Holmes, and I was finally interested in trying out the original works. Some stories were just as good as I hoped and others less so, but I still enjoyed listening. A lot of the stories are shorter, which surprised me. It worked out great for my commute, especially since the longer stories were actually a tad dull for me. Overall, I may go back and give some of this a re-listen, especially the blocks of shorter stories.

What a fun listen. This is the first Sherlock Holmes novel and it is most enjoyable despite the unfair slurs against Mormons and its very Victorian sexism. Stephen Fry is a fabulous narrator and also provides a very interesting prologue.

Now that I have completed The Complete Sherlock Holmes, I have fallen in love with the Neurotic sleuth all over again! I read a few of the stories when I was around 8 and it certainly jumpstarted my imagination for crime fiction. I continued my love for Sherlock by watching tv shows, my favourite being The hound of the Baskervilles - I watched this as a teen and it was the Hammer Horror version that featured the great Peter Cushing.

Sir Arthurs writing in style is flawless and I consider him to be one of the greats. The way in which he wrote Sherlock always fascinated me - the way Sherlock's brain seemed to travel at 100 mph and pick up minute details that everyone around him, Watson included would miss completely. The stories really did come alive for me.

After years of enjoying TV's Sherlock and Elementary, and Laurie R King's brilliant Mary Russell series, I finally went to the source.

This is a great version, containing every Holmes tale from the novels to the short stories. It worked particularly well on the Kindle, as the occasional archaic word had me reaching for the dictionary.

I thoroughly enjoyed this.

For a long time, before Sauron and Morgoth even... Prof Moriarty was my favorite villian.
