This book is poetic and romantic and sad mostly. There’s a huge trigger warning, please look that up prior to reading the book. There is also an age gap trope. It’s a love story between a 24 year old women and a 42 year old man. It touches on some deep topics, but the blow at the end is softened because of how gentle the authors writing is. It’s hard to explain until you’re reading the book.

I thought the authors writing was so atmospheric and descriptive. I could clearly put myself in the book and see exactly what the author was describing. I felt like I could vision it so perfectly in my mind. The book has a smooth poetic rhythm to it. It just flows so easily into the next chapter. It’s basically a harsh love story, about love and loss and longing. I felt that the character building was on point. We got a good look into the dynamic of the mother/daughter relationship, as well as the narrators perspective of the relationship with Jude. This book is told from one POV, the narrators, but I think it was well written. That isn’t an easy way to tell a story and to tell it well enough to give the reader a visual.

It took me some time to get into the writing style, this is by far one of the most poetic books I’ve read. The writing was so thorough and descriptive that I found myself day dreaming during the first few chapters. About halfway through I started to feel the hook much more and by the end I couldn’t put it down. I give this 5 stars because it gave me a range of feelings, it was deep and layered, and it was just giving a unique vibe.
